CO2 Australia has emerged as a pioneer in the commercialisation of forest carbon sinks. We command the leading-edge in best practice in what is still an emergent industry. This is underlined in the company’s unparalleled track-record in achieving independent accreditation.

For example, CO2 Australia is the:

  • first company that reforested cleared land to achieve accreditation as an abatement provider under the New South Wales Government’s Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme;
  • first company to be accredited as a reforestation abatement provider under the Commonwealth Government’s voluntary Greenhouse FriendlyTM program; and the
  • first Australian company registered on the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) as an Offset Provider. CCX operates North America’s only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide.

No other provider of carbon sinks has obtained accreditation of this depth. Further, in obtaining these accreditations, coupled to the due diligence conducted by our blue-chip clients, CO2 Australia’s carbon accounting systems have been independently assessed by a number of external auditors.

We currently manage landmark commercial contracts with Qantas Airways, Eraring Energy, Macquarie Bank, Woodside Energy, INPEX Browse, Origin Energy, Newmont Mining and Wannon Water.

With more than 12,500 hectares under management across NSW, VIC & WA, CO2 Australia is the country's largest provider of dedicated carbon sink plantings.
