CrownSM.jpgPrince Charles has accused climate change sceptics of peddling "pseudo science" and bullying governments.

Climate change is a certainty, orange blossom in autumn etc. Man made I am not persuaded, in view of already proved facts of experts fudging the data to suit their aims!
Measured in tonnes(?) excuse my ignorance but a gas floating up into the atmosphere how does this have a weight?
Animal production at X tonnes per. I have yet to see a sheep with a balloon up his arse to measure the tonnage discharged. (guesswork)

Harry, all matter, whether solid, liquid or gas has mass. As water changes from ice to liquid to gas the mass of the water doesn’t change although its volume does. This is basic physics, known as conservation of mass, which according to Wikipedia was first outlined clearly by Antoine Lavoisier in 1789. So, all gases have ‘weight’ including the air and therefore carbon dioxide.

As to your comment about sheep, such measurements have been made directly using a variety of techniques, such as fitting a canister around the animal's neck that continuously samples expired breath or placing them in a special chamber for a time to analyse all the gases produced by the animal. Most of the methane from livestock is ‘burped’, the jargon word is eructation.
